9/25/2023 0 Comments Medieval festival wa![]() ![]() The Burning of the Dragon on the Saturday night is a spectacle not to be missed!! ~ Raptors in flight and snakes to cuddle. ![]() ~ Camel rides and Colonial Clydesdales wagon rides. ~ Tastings and sales of locally produced wines, ciders and mead. ~ A variety of scrumptious gourmet foods to fill your belly, (some open until 7pm on Saturday night). ~ Over 100 Market stalls including handcrafted goods and clothing. ~ Burning of the Dragon – Saturday evening from 5pm with Fire Performers and thrilling live music ~ In the Combat Arena – Live action as Reenactors and Medievalist do battle. ~ On the Main stage – Live Music and Dancers. ~ Grand Parade - Don’t miss the daily parade as it wanders through the site at 1pm. MEDIEVAL PERFORMERS, PARADES AND FIGHTING There are food and market stalls to delight you on the day but the event is designed to enable you an affordable family outing if you wish to pack a lunch and have a picnic! It's very much a family affair with plenty to do whether you're young or old and loads of entertainment once you’ve entered. People come from far and wide to step back in time and experience everything medieval. The Balingup Medieval Carnivale is now the largest and oldest medieval Carnivale in Western Australia. The Balingup Medieval Carnivale is held in the magical town of Balingup over the 4th weekend of August. Whilst you are welcome to purchase tickets for your children this event is designed for adults. Please be advised: As is also tradition the serving staff are volunteers who donate their wages to local community fundraising efforts and ticket sales are calculated to cover costs of this fully volunteer run, community event (not to make profit) so no discounts or concessions are available. Please bring cash as eftpos facilities are not available in our lovely old town hall. This event is strictly NO BYO as we are very fortunate to welcome the return of the team from Cocktail Gastronomy who will provide a pop-up cash bar stocked with a selection of local wines, ales, meads and delights to refresh your palette and encourage your merriment throughout the night. To ensure full enjoyment please come dressed in medieval attire. In keeping with tradition the High Feast will be held on the Friday night (23 rd August) in the great hall and include a magnificent display of culinary delight, story tellers, acrobats, musicians and more!įor your coin you will be delighted with a meal of medieval proportion and a night of spellbinding entertainment in the company of the Royal couple and representatives of the High Council (BMC Committee). and the most dedicated don’t only dress the part but also reenact the harsh life of people during the Middle Ages.Start your Carnivale weekend off with flair and join the High Court of Balingup in grand merriment, an evening not to be missed! The creativity with which both crew and visitors dress up in medieval and fantasy-themed costumes is another major draw. Witness the fascinating action of knights racing their horses towards each other at full speed! In addition, the festival will offer plenty more to see and do: between paying a visit to the bath house and shooting arrows at the archery stands, you can take part in a bagpipe class or attend a falconry show. Knights in Shining ArmourĪmong the highlights of every Spectaculum are without a doubt the knight’s tourneys, in which lance and sword-carrying participants joust and duel for the win. In addition, the weekend will be packed with events, from jugglers and acrobats to more than 20 different musical acts like Saltatio Mortis and Fiddler’s Green. From mead and meat to medieval handicraft and clothing, more than a hundred different merchants offer their goods to the visiting masses, making this the single-biggest Medieval festival in the world. The otherwise quiet green area is turned into a bustling medieval camp with more than 3000 contributors. After coming to Hamburg's Öjendorfer park for 25 years, the Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum now takes place in the small town of Salzhausen.
